The Harem: do not skip it just because it costs extra. The Harem is the most intimate and revealing part of the palace — labyrinthine tiled corridors, the imperial baths, the Valide Sultan’s apartments, and the sultan’s private chambers give a completely different picture of Ottoman court life than the ceremonial spaces.
